Dear esteemed listener and reader.
Happy Ganesha Chaturthi — one of the most auspicious days in the Indian calendar for many.
As you may know, in Hindu lore, Ganesha, who broke one of his tusks and used it’s pointy end to keep inscribing the Mahabharata non-stop as Veda Vyasa dictated — the condition being that they wouldn’t stop until it was all written down — was in that way perhaps the original scribe.
In that way too, he’s an inspiration to the reporter and podcaster in me, apart from being the power that many in India pray to for success in new ventures.
Today I’m taking a small next step, in moving from Substack to a proper website that I’ve started putting together on WordPress.
In fact I’d started here, but moved to Substack because of its simplicity. However, it became apparent fairly quickly that if I’m serious about this effort, then the combination of a dedicated high-quality podcast-hosting platform and a decent standalone website is the way to go.
Therefore, I’m switching back to Transistor and WordPress, the combination I’d started with. Hopefully, this time I’ll get it right. As I go along, I’ll write about this experience also, as some of you might be interested in that. For example, Transistor doesn’t support video uploads, to the best of my knowledge, as they’re very focused on audio podcasts.
When I do get to shoot video episodes, and those aren’t frequent, they will go up on the India Tech Report YouTube channel, and then I can embed them here. So anyone coming here directly won’t miss out.
I’m also learning some of the more technical nuances gradually, like how Substack does not provide canonical URLs, which matters for this site’s SEO authority and so on. Therefore, getting back to WordPress is a plus on that front.
For now, I think I’ve managed the migrations correctly, and hope to cause no disruptions or inconvenience in notifying you of new posts —the only difference being that they’ll come to you via WordPress instead of Substack.
The web address remains the same: indiatechreport.in
Thank you for being among my early subscribers and supporters, and I hope to continue to bring you meaningful content on India’s growing deep tech and climate tech ecosystems.
Let’s keep the conversations going.
